This high-quality solder, manufactured in Germany by Stannol, contains an alloy of tin, copper, and optionally silver, and also includes a 3% flux.
The silver version (SnAgCu) is recommended for audio and high precision applications, however a more budget-friendly version of this product is available in larger quantities without the silver content (SnCu).
It can be confusing trying to pick a solder for your project, when there are thousands of options. This is a great all-round solder, which contains an advanced alloy which will give you a clean solder joint with minimal mess and fumes.
It is free from halogens, contains no lead or colophony, and is RoHS compliant. The solder uses synthetic resins, which are designed to ensure fast wetting of the solder joint surface. The high viscosity of the flux, combined with the low thermal degredation of the resins at high temperatures, ensure low contamination of the soldering point, and reduced exposure to harmful vapours. The solder has high thermal stability, resulting in less spitting during heating.
The melting temperature of this solder is 217-227 degrees centigrade.
It's not necessary to clean flux residue from the joint after soldering.
Always remember to take care when soldering near to lubricated areas, to avoid overheating of fluorinated lubricant, which can release toxic fumes.
